During my artist research I have found several different artists that seems aesthetically pleasing to me. This starts off with a photographer called Tom Hussey. Tom Hussey is an American photographer who specializes in lifestyle photography. His set, which I used for inspiration, was called ‘reflections’; within this set he used 2/3 people in each shot. One old person looking into a mirror and a 50 years younger person standing looking like their reflection. If there is a 3rd model used they would help set the scene. This set was created by Hussey to represent Alzheimer’s patients who see only their younger selves in the mirror and he gained his inspiration from a WW2 veteran who said he couldn’t understand he was 80. Once you gain this knowledge about his true aim of the photos it is an, ‘eye-opening perspective’. Personally, I was instantly drawn to these photos are they are eye-catching and there is something about them which makes you study every detail of the picture. The way Tom Hussey has captured these images is truly inspirational and I hoped to catch that emotion and feeling within my response.
Within each photo the part I find most aesthetically pleasing is the mirroring of the models. The way the older model relates what they are doing to a past memory for example the older man stirring his tea reminding him of a science experiment in the past years. The other factor is the pure detail within his photos. Every reflection, background object and hand movement has been considered within the composition and this means wherever you look you will not be able to find a fault.
